Where Do You Add Supplemental Material

I was wondering where I can add like a research paper, or business plan as supplemental materials for common app schools.

bump, same problem here

There is no place to include a full paper or plan in your common application. You might contact the admissions office at each school to see whether they would accept such a submission and if so, how to send it. Many admissions officers do not have time to read a full paper and burdening them with too much information can actually hurt your application. It’s better in that case to include just an abstract of your paper or plan in the additional information section.

Okay. I actually already included an abstract of both in a sense. I was only wondering because many people on the decision threads for schools who have published research say that they have submitted their research paper as a supplement, so I was just curious. What are you going to do @softcalculator?

bmonticello23, I might just contact the admissions office and see what I can do. Mine is more like a poster rather than a paper, so I guess I’m not “burdening them with too much information”. I’ve included the research in my resume as well.

Nice. I mean I put it as an activity talked about what we did, but no like research facts or anything. What do you mean?

Same. I might attach the document with an email and send it to the admissions, if they prefer it that way… idk. Have to contact them first.

ah good looks.

What about a computer application? I have written some programs that I think are somewhat impressive and also show my experience in computer science, the major I want to have. How should I put these in?

Also, I have done research, but they’re not in the scientific research paper format with graphs and whatnot but are just papers with parenthetical citations and an annotated bibliography. Should I host these on a website and provide the link?

Yeah, I think that would be the most opportune way to go about it. I have a website design and app business, so I also have the links of my websites and application names in my description for my business. For your application, maybe consider uploading an open source copy (if its not already open source) specifically for the adcoms and shoot them emails telling them in advance that that’s what you want to do, or even just ask for suggestions.
