Where do you plan on buying your textbooks?

Never bought from my school’s bookstore (TOTAL ripoff)

Combination of Half.com and Amazon

Campus book store.

Yea well my bookstore has the MOST UNREASONABLY PRICED books… If I bought from them I would probably have to pay $1,000 for one stupid semester. Chem alone cost more than $500 total from them. I bought what I could from half.com or amazon, but they still had school only books (sigh thats how they get you - for a couple books and an "iClicker, I had to pay $230). I will see what I can find on chegg…

I don’t even know if I am done - how is this reasonable to charge me so much for materials >_<.

campus book store for me…

For those of you who are doing campus bookstore: Why?

Deferment options, school-specific versions, clickers, weird proprietary stuff etc…

Convenience
Teachers haven’t posted books yet
They’re covered under my scholarship

Amazon/Half FTW. Its the only way to go, IMO.

Thanks to FB, one upperclassmen gave us most of the ISBNs for the books we need
I bought everything from Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles & More | eBay for like half the price my bookstore was selling. I so far have bought $250 worth of books. Which would have cost me $487 at the bookstore
I have to buy a chem kit though for $11, and probably a $150 econ book if I can’t get the number

I have 20 books + 6 possible ones I dont know the name of. Total $560+ from school bookstore. Getting them all for $170 from other places.

I buy mine from either half or amazon. Unfortunately I have to wait to see which physics class I like best so I’ll have to buy that one from the campus bookstore. What a rip off.

Hi everyone,
Just wandering…is international edition same as national? Or similar?
I am trying to get my books online, and some of them are international editions and they are very cheap compared to the national ones. So I wasn’t exactly sure.

Thanks for the help!

Half.com  I only buy new though. I had to buy some text books for a summer program thing before and pages were missing in all 5 books I bought. Disappointing.

[Compare Prices on New & Used Textbooks, Cheap Textbooks - GetTextbooks.com](http://www.gettextbooks.com)

it acts as a search engine and looks through all the sites mentioned here so far. lists all the books from cheapest to most expensive. tells you which ones are rentals, used, new books (and the cheapest of each of those categories). all you need is the ISBN of the book or the title of the book. it’s worked great for me.

hey whittierca90, thanks for the help!
One more question though - do you know how long it takes to ship the book if it is an international edition. I heard it can take up to 8 weeks(I guess because it is coming from a different country), but i am not sure.
BTW, my school starts on August 26th, so i wouldn’t want to risk it if it takes that long.

amazon is by far the best … ive bought NEW books for literally like 1/10th the price i am not evne lying, just picked up my calculus and business management book for both 15 dollars I SWEAR i was so happy … older edition but professor said it was fine so im straight !!!

amazon, i got a $100 book for $7

Holy damn logic warrior.

amazon is not the best place… i compaired its prices to the on campus bookstore and found that the bookstore had the better deal.
