The scholarship form is so confusing! They ask for IN SCHOOL activities on the first section, and then Community Activities. But if you read Community activities it is for VOLUNTEER or unpaid work. I asked where OUTSIDE of school activities should be listed, and was told under Community Activities. But this does not make sense. There is no where to list regular, outside of school, activities that one participated in. That section starts off with “those community volunteer or internship activities for which you did NOT receive payment”. Anyone else understand what to do??? I am sure kids have joined outside activities, sports, clubs, etc that should be listed.
I have no idea. I’ve done a lot of extracurriculars that weren’t “school sponsored,” in that they weren’t sponsored by my high school, but by other credible organizations. I.e. speech and debate through a homeschool league, involvement with student government through a homeschool group, and a third party orchestra. (Although enrolled at a public high school, I still chose to be involved with homeschool activities.) Any advice? Is this stuff just inadmissible? That seems odd. And given that it’s the bulk of my extracurriculars, I would be concerned about turning in such a sparse application.
