just a quick question: where do you write down all of the summer programs and activities you did on the common ap? is there a specified place for it? and what if you did an activity, like volunteering, that wasn't necessarily on a college campus, over hte summer? where would you write that?

I suppose you indicate your summer programs/activities in the “activities and works” section since there is no specialized area for summer activity. And note that the 2010-2011 common application has up to 12 spaces, far more than usual, for activities and works.

Another place to indicate your summer activities will be on “College Supplement.” But it all depends on what each college asks in her supplement.

Hope this helps!

Many colleges allow you to submit additional information. I would recommend a resume.

Yeah, they would go in the activities section. There is actually a place where you indicate whether the activity was during the school year or the summer, so that’s where you would include it.

You can list them under “activities”. If you don’t have enough space or simply don’t want to, a resume is a neat idea. This is what I did.
