Where do you stand?

1) Do you support AA in college admissions for all minorities regardless of social/economic status?

2) Do you think a boost for low-income college applicants (regardless of race) is necessary given that higher income students have many advantages that low income students don't have access to?

3) Are you against any kind of boost to anyone black or white, rich or poor since everyone faces hardships in life? (pure meritocracy)

1) No, AA should be reserved for minorities who are significantly disadvantaged.

2) Sure, why not? I mean, if a low-income student has impressive stats and extracurriculars, it is a bit more impressive given their situation.

3) Pure meritocracy is a bit like communism, in that it’s a decent idea but would never work out. Plus, holistic admissions are “more fair.”

@moonman676 Really? I also kind of think like you, although I am Hispanic I think that AA should be based more on income, status, assets, etc. than in race alone, but don’t you think that race and income intersect by a lot and AA would still have kind of the same results if it were based in status rather than in race?
