Where do you study in college? I really need my own space?

I'm dorming with my middle school friend, but I can't focus or concentrate at all! Her PC keyboard is so loud, and it just drives me crazy. Also, I just get distract when i'm not alone in the room. I just need to be physically isolated to study well... is this a thought or an excuse? Can I train myself to not have to be physically isolated in order to focus? I'm an engineering student, and with all those hardcore math, chemistry, and physics courses, it takes deep concentrate to understand the material. I'm afraid I will get kicked out of college due to failing grades before I get to go to study in college? Do you have trouble studying in your dorm if you are dorming with someone else?

distracted**

I need to be alone to effectively study as well, or it atleast needs to be quiet. However, this is not an excuse for getting poor grades. You can’t get an F and blame it on your dorm mate. It would be your fault for not going somewhere where you could be productive. Go to your school’s student center or library where it is quiet.

When I was an undergrad I used to study at the Law Library, where there was no risk of running into friends or finding a magazine that might serve as a distraction. At other times I would study in empty classrooms at night. (Do students still do this?) Of course, as long as you have internet access, you won’t be completely free of distraction.

You might try getting some noise-cancelling headphones–or just earplugs–to try to deal with sounds in your room. If that doesn’t work, there are bound to be plenty of quiet places to study on campus–find one, and it will soon become “your” place to study.

with a fair amount of course work involving an online component its nearly impossible to avoid the internet distraction. My personal recommendations is the library is the environment to study. I had my own room freshman year and still had to go to the library to effectively study. If the library isn’t your thing I am sure you can find somewhere on campus that is not heavily occupied.
