In your case, you knew your post was not relevant to any part of the thread at all, and you posted it anyway. In contrast, everything that I have ever posted is something that I believed was relevant to some part of the thread. You may disagree with what we should believe to be relevant to the thread, but I can genuinely tell you that I believed it.

I think you missed my point. Every thread you contribute to in the engineering forums gets steered (by you) to the same point. I am certain that you believe each time that it is thoroughly relevant, but to many of us (or at least many of me) it is often as absurd a diversion as the one I offered.</p>
