Where does this leave me?

I am a sophomore in college in my spring semester (of course).

I was originally planning on applying for transfers for Fall 2012, but I had a serious health problem occur in the middle of winter semester. I had to take 2 W's, and 3 incompletes. Because I'm finishing the incompletes now, I can only take like 9 semester hours apart from them.

From what I understand, people don't really apply for transfer after sophomore year. It doesn't seem logical or likely that I would be able to apply for transfers next winter, so am I stuck at my current school for good now? There's no school that's going to take me with this mess going on...

What?

I’m finishing my third year before transferring and I submitted my applications with all my GE’s and major preps complete. It is very possible. If you’re saying for only having two years, I think it’s just rather hard to transfer out in two years for some majors.

A friend of mine was in the same situation as you and is transferring with me. Although, this is his fourth year here since he doesn’t load himself up with more than 12-15 units most of the time.

I’d suggest you apply & make up your I’s ASAP. I know a young woman who had great grades 1st semester of CC. She applied to transfer to dream U. She had some serious health issues that caused her to get some Is as well 2nd semester. Her spring semester grades were requested from the U & turned in. She was admitted starting January (spring admit). She was able to make up 2 of the Is and get a W for one & started in January. It worked for her.

Most Us only require that you take 60 (or whatever # they specify) at their U, particularly in your major to graduate with a degree from them. They aren’t so particular as to how many credits you may have gotten before you transfer. The best way to figure out your options is to contact your target U & ask them for suggestions on your options. Many are pretty understanding about health issues, especially if you have documentation that you have fully recovered.

Good luck!
