I got a call today from the foundation, They are going to sponor me if i'm not appointment this year.........its good to know i'll get their.....sometime.

My daughter is currently at NAPS and is taking some very difficult courses. When she was offered the NAPS position, I have to say that, not knowing much about it, I thought that, academically, it would be a breeze for her and not really necessary. While I will always believe that she would have been fine academically going directly to the academy, I also have come to know just how smart some of the kids at NAPS are and also what a wonderful year this investment is.

Daughter was AP everything, etc. Thought that another year of Calculus, a third year of Chem, second of physics etc. would be a joke. NAPS has 3 tracks and often times the top track is using the exact books the academy is. In fact, her physics prof. told us that the calculus based physics they are taking is the same course as the second year academy students. My daughter has been completely impressed by some of the students there. Many come directly from nuclear school and they are no slouches. The intangibles such as the extra year of preparation, extra military instruction and maturity gained during this year will only serve to make her more prepared and less intimidated and scared next year. Frankly, I can't find a down side to it.

For what it's worth, if your son has his heart set on the academy, then the foundation or naps offer is a blessing in disguise. I thank God that it worked out this way for my daughter.
