to other schools in the Top 20. It's considered a Southern Ivy but is its reputation that like the Ivies? Or is it comparable to schools like Northwestern and Carnegie Mellon?

Better than CM but not as good as Northwestern.

Second in the South to Duke or third behind Duke and Rice?

Depends what part of the country you are in. In general though I would say Rice is marginally better.

Well I wanna end up in NY possibly in finance or consulting. Now why is Rice marginally better? I thought Vandy was ranked higher in world academic rankings?

If it came down to Rice and Vandy, would you guys still choose it over Rice? I am split between these two.

Rice has more popularity in the NY financial sector than Vanderbilt, but a Vanderbilt degree will not hurt you the least bit.

So Rice over Vandy in the financial sector? I would've figured Vandy had more of an edge on the east coast?

It's probably better to ask this question in a general forum (like the business majors forum) rather than here. But from my estimation the consensus on CC seems to be that Rice is a school that gets more attention from those "in the know" than the general public, whereas Vanderbilt is the opposite.

i read in us news that vandy is 18th in the country behind rice and jhu but above emory and georgetown
