"Their band is ******* amazing"

You've got that right. NT's band is incredible. NT was named in Rolling Stone's "Schools that Rock" for their amazing music program.
Being in band myself, almost half of the seniors the past two years that I've known graduating and planning to study music (a surprising majority) have decided to go to UNT.
Ryan, if your planned major is music, then I take back all I've said about NT, and I reccomend you apply. Their program is amazing and their band (both marching and concert) are unbelievable.

wow thats good to know.... to bad I have no musical ability what so ever... O Welll

Ryan1989- If you think NT's band is amazing, you should see the precision marching Fightin' Texas Aggie Band from A&M. I went down for the game against ND back when Bob Davie was the coach and I was amazed by that band. I was pretty impressed by the whole College Station atmosphere. The Corps guys are nuts..you Texans know what I mean!

No, not a music major, but I'd like to try out for a good marching band when I go to college. UNT is one of my good possibilities because a big portion of my friends are going to be headed there. Their band performed an exhibition at the second round of the state marching contest here, it was very very good.

Pizzahut, I have to agree. A&M's band is really good. My brother is an Aggie, so I've been to a few games and they are awesome. The only problem is, you have to be in the Corp. to be in the band and the corp is definitly not for everyone.

IS it true that the A & M no longer stands for Agriculture and Mining... thats just wut i heard..........

It never stood for Agriculture and Mining. Originally, the "A&M" stood for "Agricultural and Mechanical," but the University has since dropped that part of the name, so "A&M" no longer technically stands for anything. I suppose they want to advance the concept of A&M as an university strong in many different fields, rather than just agricultural and mechanical engineering.

Yea, I agree. My brother is a double major in Phsyics and Math right now and considering switching to Marina Archeology. And I know they have an wonderful International Affairs school, so definitly not just Agriculture and Mechanical.

bananasx10 - We have heard of St. Olaf! We have a family friend who just loves the school and tried to get each of her three daughters to attend. One of her three daughters now plays in a large city symphony and has a friend in this symphony who has a son who attends St. Olaf (hope that made sense!). They went up last December for the Christmas music program. This daughter of the family friend said the Christmas program was fantastic, but noted that St. Olaf was the "most homogenous place she had ever seen - everyone was BLONDE!!" I am sure that was an overstatement, but it was an observation she made!

U of I
Michigan
UT Austin
Indiana (accepted)
UPenn

Northwestern
Dartmouth
UPenn (A LOT of these I've noticed!)
Cornell
Johns Hopkins
Michigan (already accepted, but my parents "forbid" me to go there, jk)

Yep, I've heard of both...and my kids have toured both. St. Olaf is a wonderful music school and great in the sciences. It is in a very, very, very small town. The campus is nice. Carlton Collge is also located in the same town. Luther is also known for the same things as St. Olaf. Almost everyone at Luther is involved in music. I think some of their science (nursing) programs are hooked to Mayo in Rochester. Luther is in a bigger town than St. Olaf...but still small, maybe about 20,000, with no larger town close by. My now college seniors (2) did like the schools but the towns were too small for them. If you are looking for science schools, Grinnell located in Marshalltown, Iowa is great in premed. They have a good track record of kids going on to medical school. Good luck

haha. Yes, I'm applying to Barrett. I'm a National Hispanic Scholar, so ASU has offered me a full scholarship (tuition, room & board). It's my safety, plus it's nice to know that if I want to, I can go to college for free.

Well, I currently live in the Middle East, so I'm used to that sort of weather. ASU isn't my first choice, but I can definitely handle the heat if need be... although I would like to live somewhere cooler...

ND (first choice!) BC, Yale, Brown, WashU, U of I (Ill.), maybe more...
