<p>I don't see the harm in it. As long as you don't put down 20 school or a large amount of schools really far away from the school who asks, its not a big deal. Everyone seems to have tufts and WUstl itis and think they will get rejected if they think they are safites. I don't think this is the case.</p>
<p>I think it's mostly on the individual schools supplements.
I'm applying to 8 schools, so I'm only listing around 3 or 4, when they ask for that. they don't need to know the exact number.</p>
<p>I said this on another thread but I think listing the really competitive schools I was applying to got me rejected from one of my safeties. It's probably fine to put a few schools at the same level as the one you're applying to, but don't let them think they're backup.</p>
<p>I had University of Pittsburgh tell me that they wanted to be a safety.</p>
