So far I have been accepted to Purdue, applied to Duke, UC Berkeley, and will apply to Northwestern, Case Western Reserve, RPI, and Oregon State...I want to major in Computer Engineering and I have no idea where else I should apply?

GPA- 4.0 unweighted.....
Rank- 1/392
My SAT superscore is 2060
I have taken the SAT II's, did terribly (590 chem, 640 Math 2)
My ACT score comes in next week ( probably a 30+ )

So where should I apply? Assuming my EC's are good, as well as my essays and recs....

Good job on getting accepted to Purdue! It’s a pretty good school for engineering I think you have pretty good chances at the schools you already listed but here are some more…

Ranked Top 10
Stanford, but that’s always a stretch ;).
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) (I got accepted with a 3.87 GPA and 30ACT, you can get in :))
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Georgia Institute of Technology
California Insitute of Technology, also a stretch
Cornell, stretch

Ranked Top 20
University of Wisconsin - Madison
University of Minnesota - Twin Cities

Purdue was your safety… please, reconsider Oregon State.

Duke: Reach
Berkeley: High match (even if OOS full-pay)
NWU: Reach
Case Western: Match
Oregon State: Safety (it’s a safety at 3.4/1610 with the ECs you’ve got)
RPI: Low match

I hear good things about Georgia Tech for engineering and computer science.

As far as the Ivies go, there’s definitely Columbia and Cornell. Even if you think you’re a weak applicant, you have nothing to lose by applying!

@catria, are you saying oregon state is a bad school? Just wondering because I am in Oregon, and I would likely get a full ride… But Purdue is currently my safety…

It’s a little strange that your school record is impeccable yet your SATs are not so great. I think you should apply to more top engineering programs that you like.

ACT’s are right in the middle of CMU same with SAT’s. As long as you have good EC’s and essays, I think you have a reach to high-match-ful chance at getting into CMU.

Well oregon state has not officially offered me money yet…but If i get into cmu, I would need significant aid…Most colleges will adjust offers for my “special” circumstance i think
