Where exactly are your SAT scores sent?

<p>So as most of you probably know, some schools/districts/newspapers do features whenever someone from the local area gets a 2400 on his/her SAT or a 36 on his/her ACT. How do they find out? Is your school automatically notified of your SAT/ACT score regardless of whether you tell them or not? If so, what if you took your score at another high school?</p>

<p>From what I’ve heard, it is only sent to your high school if you code your high school correctly when you register. I take the test all the time and am out of high school and college, so my scores are not sent anywhere but to me. </p>

<p>Because schools want the publicity surrounding a 2400, I am sure they are the ones to call the media. I would think they have to get the student’s permission to reveal his or her name, though.</p>
