michigan, unless cmu(correct in assuming carnegie-mellon u.?) gives u the green light, then it's a toss up. michigan has extremely strong business and engineering.

The two that I'm familiar with are a little hard to compare - U Rochester and U Michigan. They are really so different.

U of R is much smaller (although it still can pack some pretty large classes) with a very contained, but attractive campus. Even though it is technically in the city of Rochester it is very isolated; it's hemmed in by a river on one side, a cemetery, and the sprawling medical center. There is almost nothing worth walking to but they do offer some transportation. Of course the weather in Rochester can be a little tough (I live in Rochester), but I don't think Michigan wins any prizes either.

Michigan has two campuses, about a mile or so apart. The whole engineering complex is new and in the newer part of the campus. Obviously, U Michigan is an engineering powerhouse (U of R isn't). There is also a very large, predominantly freshmen dorm on that campus. There is easy transportation between that campus, the main campus, and all points of the town. Ann Arbor is a college town - lots of student housing and all the usual student things. It's a fun place - and very highly regarded. But it is big!
