I know of the EECS average SAT scores from the EECS orientation. Since I’m not a MechE, I wouldn’t know about it. I would’ve asked my roommate since he’s one, but he’s fast asleep (Why am I not surprised at that, after looking at my watch :P).
Anyway, if exact statistics interest you, you might want to google Common Data Set for UC Berkeley. It has all the numbers to satisfy those nerves.
Just so I’m in the know, what are your SAT scores like?

Well CS here is easier than EE and ChemE, though its probably still harder than the CS over at Berkeley And i meant in relation to these other two its easier, not easy on the whole.

Key word: ‘most’. Berkeley, Cornell and CMU are reaches. Still leaves seven universities I have a more than decent shot at.

Cornell’s median admitted scores are lower, so you have a more decent there than Berkeley.
As for CMU, it depends on whether you’ve applied to the SCS or CIT.

Haha, I know you love the Cali rivalry a bit too much mystic, but nope. Not even close. ;)

Your squabble is with Stanford. We have no squabble with anyone, save perhaps MIT occasionally. So zen and peace ;)

Barring my early action app at Harvard, which got deferred, I applied to the following places:
Princeton
Yale
Dartmouth
Columbia
Brown
UPenn
Grinnell
Reed
Swarthmore
Colgate
Bates
Williams
Carleton

I want to major in physics and require almost full financial aid. That latter’s obviously asking a lot if you’re an international, but I think my stats are competitive barring the my most recent class rank.
Fingers crossed and all that. Best of luck to everyone else out there with those big, badass dreams. :)

You want to major in Physics and yet you’ve applied to every Ivy except Cornell, which is arguably the best in hard sciences?

Not to mention that Cornell is the most likely non-need blind school to offer an Indian aid.

Cornell is need-blind but they don’t guarantee you’ll get all the aid you need.

While Cornell may be a great place to study at, firstly they have almost no financial aid. Two of my closest friends have been accepted there, and there acceptance letters unequivocally stated that international aid is as good as nonexistant this year. I can assure the above posters that i considered my colleges quite carefully before applying.
my only regret is not apping to uchicago. Harvey mudd was my top choice but didn’t apply coz of their lack of aid.

plus, i want a more tightly knit college atmosphere, cornell will not give me that or so says my feedback. Hence, I’m very eager about the liberal arts colleges.

Harvey mudd gives a few internationals aid. I know 2 people who got aid just a couple of years back.

Cornell has the Tata Scholarship, which is only for Indians, and is capable of supporting 15-20 freshmen every year, full ride. Its as close to need-blind as possible.

@Tastycles: Well, I obviously didn’t consider that. But its alright. I really didn’t feel the vibe from COrnell that I got from places like Harvard, Upenn, Brown, Reed, Grinnell, Swarthmore. THe rest i applied because they’re not too bad… and I know about the tata schols…but what I told about the cornell aid scenario is right off their acceptance letter to my friends.

Harvey Mudd’s website states they’re unable to provide more than 10k aid… i need an almost full ride.
