I was just wondering because I saw this on the musical theatre page where different dancers had auditioned and been accepted to college dance programs. How many dancers do they accept each year? And, which college do they think they will attend?

My daughter auditioned for dance at CalArts, UC Irvine, UCSB, Chapman University, CSU Fullerton and CSU Long Beach. So far she has been accepted at CalArts, UCSB, Fullerton and Long Beach, still waiting to hear back from Irvine and Chapman.

DS auditioned at Julliard, NYU, Fordham, Manhattan Marymount, UArts and Michigan. Accepted at Marymount, UArts and Michigan, didn’t make the call back at Julliard and still waiting on NYU and Fordham.

Mine applied to Butler, Indiana, Lines/Dominican, SUNY Purchase, Utah and Tisch. Accepted at Purchase, LInes and Utah, no at Butler, waiting on the rest. No idea where she will go. What about yours, Laamb66?

Mine applied to Utah, Indiana, UCI, UCSB, CSU Long Beach, SJSU BFA program

Accepted into all. Going to UCI

Done with this process! D applied to Tisch, SUNY Purchase, Utah, Lines/Dominican, Butler and Indiana. In everywhere except Butler and Indiana. Also applied to Mercyhurst but decided not to audition after receiving other acceptances. She was tired of auditions by then. Best to all in the decision-making process!

Mine applied to schools that were closer to us - she really did not want to go too far away - we live in Ohio - She applied at University of Akron, Kent State and Slippery Rock University. She was accepted at all 3 colleges. I wanted her to apply at Point Park but she had heard of the “weight list” there and felt it would be too much pressure. She loves Pittsburgh but didn’t like that there wasn’t a true campus feel to the school. She has chosen Slippery Rock. She also would not go to Ohio State either, way too many from her school going there, she wanted somewhere more unique.

My daughter is also going to Slippery Rock next year and will be in the dance major.

hello??? can someone tell me how the audition process went csulb and fullerton? i’m interested in going and I’m a transfer student my experience in dance is not advance it is more intermediate. I was wondering if its even worth a shot?

Audition was 2 hours, ballet and modern. Ballet was too hard for my DD since she is classical based, even modern was decent for her. Parents could watch audition. We got response in less then 2 hours after audition.
LB was on top of her list but after Indiana and UCI accepted her she took UCI, and so far so good. She is loving it, auditioned and got into performance in November - she is freshman.

aww congratulations to your daughter! So was she also accepted to csulb audition? how was the uci audition I was interested in going there too…thank you so much for replying! that was very helpful!
