<p>Bout internships I don't think I'll be able to get one since most are for college students and since I live in Utah there's not a lot going on so that really limits my choices.</p>
<p>I think most high school students can't handle working a job throughout the year (unless it's babysitting or something extremely informal and flexible). I don't think working full time in the summer is looked down upon (as compared to workin throughout the year).</p>
<p>For the record, colleges and universities do not care AT ALL if you get a summer job. If you don't actually need the money to support your family and if your job doesn't help educate you (aka Internships) then I strongly suggest you volunteer instead. If you get a job serving burgers or working at the library, colleges don't care at all.</p>

<p>That's why I suggested an internship (paid or unpaid). Or you should do research if you're into science. During my summers I volunteered at a gun control advocacy organization, worked at a science lab, and interned at a law firm.</p>
