Where is everyone in Calc BC?

We have our chapter test on sequences and series on Tuesday(scary!) then we start some vector stuff. Where is everyone else?

We’re finishing integrals of trig functions, then I think we’re onto the last stretch of material. We already covered vectors. We have covered sequences a little bit, but not the Taylor Series.

We just finished series and parametrics. We’ve just started polar coordinates, and we still have slope fields, Euler’s Method, and vectors still to look at before starting AP Review.

We’re just about to start integrating polar functions, and this is our last topic. From then on we’ll be doing AP review.

NYEM - and I thought we were far, finishing part ONE sequences and series (didn’t get to Taylor yet)… how FAST does your class go???

Well, BC at my school is taught as a continuation of AB so we basically started the class with integration by parts. The class pace is very fast as well; in AB last year we were pretty much finished with all material by early march.

We just finished the unit with parametric equations/integration by partial fractions/etc…

NYEM my class is very similar. We picked up with integration by parts at the beginning of the year and now we are working on Taylor/Maclurian Polynomials and approximating functions, basically. The last (horrible) homework was on the LaGrange remainder. x__x. lol

anyone else cringing at the thought of the AP exam ? I am.

You guys are so far ahead… We just finished improper integrals (and it still makes me giggle)

we’re doing volume of shapes and length of curves

We just finished Taylors and Parametrics. All we have to do is polars now and we’re done.

we’ve completed the entire AB portion of the year, volume and rotation stuff, and indefinite/improper integrals. now were finishing limits and series as well as diffy q’s

gosh, I don’t even know. Something with integrals and sums.

We just finished convergence tests for series, and now we’re doing power series and Taylor series. We only have two more tests, and then we’re done (we already did polar/parametric stuff)–our class will be done with all the material around mid-March.

Ohh, I see. We started from scratch…no one had taken calculus previously. And here we are about to do Taylor series  I feel good.

For those of you who’ve used the Barron’s AP Prep book for Calc BC, approximately how well did you do on the section questions and on the practice exams (as in how many questions did you usually miss)? How did this compare to how well you did on the actual BC exam?

Also, does anyone know if there’s a scoring rubric for the Barron’s exams that I could use to see what I should expect on the actual AP exam?

I’m asking because I’m consistently missing about 30% of the problems and I’m afraid I’ll only get a 3 at this rate. I need a 5 to opt out of calc at the college I’m looking at. Thanks!

Er, we just finished series and sequences. I don’t know if we’re doing a last chapter next or if we’re going to start review.

Personally, I’m hoping for review, since I seem to -really- need it.

My class finished about a week ago. Now we are reviewing

finished just last week
