I think the main reason that wizards aren’t fat though is that their standard of living is generally higher than that of muggles, and I’m pretty sure standard of living negatively correlates with obesity.

Hmm, I think Alecto Carrow could fall under category since she’s “stocky”, but barely. At least, she’s the only dark wizard I can think of under that description. Besides Peter Pettigrew.

Yeah, I’m quite sure there are other wizard/witch academies throughout the world as well; there’s one in Brazil, for example.

Hepzibah Smith was ginormous as well! : D I suppose most of the main characters just have fast metabolisms, especially since they’re all still kids. And even though they eat tons at feasts, it’s not all deep-fried or necessarily bad for them. Interesting question!

^if you live in poverty in a wealthier country, all you can afford is junk food… Its a big problem that causes the socio-economic correlation with obesity.

I would argue that because the wizarding community is much, much smaller and probably more well off than the muggle community as a whole (think about how many wizarding families were filthy rich) it makes total sense that obesity levels were lower in Harry Potter.

Does it cost money to go to Hogwarts? Do they pay tuition? It wasn’t really discussed in the books, but I never remember them taking money out of Gringotts for tuition. (in reference to whoever asked about fin. aid.)
