Where is the Part 1 of the Application?

Do all schools have a Part I? For schools that take the Common App (like Penn) is the Common App the Part 1 (the info they use to make the folder)?

All schools do not have a Part I, though some do. It used to be much more common than it is today. Of the 7 schools my daughter was interested in last year, only George Washington University had a Part I. When my oldest daughter applied seven years ago, every one of her schools required a Part I.

Most applicants are encouraged to apply online today, whether through the Common App or the school’s own application, which is one reason having a Part I isn’t really necessary. Applicants used to be told that the Part I was required for schools to open a file for them, but that doesn’t seem to apply much today.

Does anyone know how to go about a situation like this: I submitted my supplemental application for Boston College and Online Personal Data Form for Georgetown several weeks ago, both indicating that I will be apply EA. However, since then I made a decision to ED somewhere else, so I have to apply to BC and Georgetown Regular Decision now (since they are both Restrictive Early Action–can’t apply to other ED at the same time).

I’ve emailed both of their undergrad admissions offices but both replied back with an automatic email saying that they can’t reply back with the number of emails/spam they get at this time. How can I request a change to both pre-apps?

I’d call them to try to change it.

Stupid question, what’s a part I? Is it a required section that you must send first or something?
