Me too!!
Somewhat relieved that no one posted the vintage Sansabelt ad which appeared in the humor thread.
In my studio. I spend hours painting; completely immersed, and lost in thought!
Barton Springs in Austin. I spent the afternoon there today. I was there most days of the summer when I was a kid. My husband proposed to me in a canoe nearby.
The Oregon Coast
Bermuda. Never been there, but just the thought of going to Bermuda makes me happy.
We honeymooned there. It was awesome!
My happy country is Italy and specific happy place is Florence. Every time I travel there it feels like coming home. I went there with the girls often when they were growing up.
I love the beach, it is nearby. There is one I like the best, I’m always happy there.
I love Vermont. We rented a beautiful winter house for years in Andover, pre-pandemic. I miss Vermont and I’ve always been happy there. Lots of changes since 2020 though, so we have only had short visits since.
My real happy place is my car! I love driving off alone or with D23 for trips. I love the open road. Adventure! Tunes! Car snacks! My lab used to come with me to do my errands and I loved driving around town with my little floppy-eared co-pilot. She can’t get in and out easily anymore so that’s over but I still love my car.
Is this a photo of Kansas or Nebraska ?
Stunning photo !
Miter Basin, Sequoia National Park.
Here’s another favorite of Davis Lakes in Kings Canyon National Park:
And Yosemite. I did lots of trips with the kids when they were small.
LOVE thissss!!!
That looks exactly like D1’s house in NC. Beautiful!
My happy place has water: ocean, lakes, rivers, doesn’t matter. If mountains are also in the mix, even better!
But in general, my happy place is in my beautiful home. I love it. If not for DH, I’d rarely leave it.
Yes! All of that. And my home, man how I wish we’d never have to leave it.
Me, too. It’s too big for us at this point but I love being in the woods and on the river.
My happy place is sitting in a canoe behind my kid on the Jacks Fork River in Missouri. When I die I want my ashes scattered on this river. My best memories are absolutely here, and every time I picture myself here I feel at peace.
Wow. Like many of you, there are lots of places that speak to me.
Lake McArthur in Yoho National Park in Canada.
as well as all the lakes in the Lake O’Hara Region.
Sausalito (we lived for a while in a houseboat in Richardson Bay with beautiful views including of Mt. Tamalpais in the distance).
Our home. We live on the bank of a river surrounded by conservation land and a horse farm. This is a panoramic view from our backyard in the spring.
Half Dome. I proposed to ShawWife on top of Half Dome.
In our house, I love the scene from my office – it overlooks the river in two directions and a horse farm in the third. We have a room downstairs with four skylights and glass on two sides and ShawWife calls it the Happy Room.
I have asked my wife and kids to scatter my ashes in places I loved and that they can visit. I think they will have to pass on Half Dome (there is now a lottery to get up there and they would blow away). Maybe somewhere in Yosemite Valley. I don’t want a grave in a cemetery that no one will visit.
