Hello:
I'm new here and have looked through past threads but haven't found the answer. Everyone says Princeton values legacies, and that it may be even better if you are a second generation legacy (grandpa also attended, for example); however, the Common App only asks where your parents went to school. Where would an applicant report that his grandparent also attended Princeton?

Hello and thank you for your note. This year's supplement did not ask whether anyone in your family attended Princeton. It simply asked, as did the Common App, where your parents had gone to school.I thought this was strange, given the emphasis on legacy on this board, and the fact that other schools asked if anyone in your family had attended their institution. Anyone else find this confusing?

Perhaps Princeton does not give the legacy "boost" to grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, etc. Only to the immediate offspring of alumni.

Perhaps you should mention the grandparent connection in the interview, where it can be noted.
