Hi, I am preparing transfer admission for 2014 fall. However I have been struggling in picking colleges to apply.

I am a international student graduated from an American High school three years ago with a GPA 1.93. After that epic fail, I went back to my country working as an assistant product designer for a year, but finally chose to study in U.S again.

I have heard "there is no second acts in american life", but Western Michigan University generously admitted me two years ago. Right now, with an avg GPA 3.16 I am a Mechanical engineering sophomore ( GPA each sem 2.56 2.98 3.65).

For extracurricular activities, I participated in FTC robotic challenge while I was in HS and placed the second at the state final meet of MA. And the first semester in WMU I chose to become a mentor of local FRC robotic team. I speak three languages( Chinese Japanese English) and Last year I participate in the school Japan club and currently work as a TA in the Japanese department.

These days I almost complete my application for Ann arbor but have no confidence in making my way there. I am also trying for UW Madison, Ohio State university, UT Austin, Texas A&M, Iowa State U. However, most of them just post 3.0 as the minimum GPA for admission. That just gives me no idea about the chance of getting admitted.

I am considering the following states
MA
OHIO
MICHIGAN
TEXAS
CA
GEORGIA
WISCONSIN
IOWA
ARIZONA

Please help me position myself and give me some advises in choosing transfer destinations.
