I am a high school senior, and I'm struggling to find out which private schools I should apply to. Cost is not an issue for me. I've taken a total of 7 AP classes throughout high school, and my weighted GPA is 3.45 only. My ACT score is 28, and I received a 650 in SAT US History and 620 in SAT Math IIC. My extracurricular activities are descent. Since I don't have a that good of an academic foundation, what are some good colleges and some safety schools I can apply to, preferably but not only in the pre-med or liberal arts majors? I would prefer a campus with lots of city life such as UCLA or even UCI. I have already applied to some UC's and Cal states and their deadline has passed. I'm looking into private colleges. Please suggest to me some good colleges before my time runs out. Thank you. (I posted a similar question earlier, but I realize now I was very broad and not clear and therefore didn't receive any proper answers.)

D.C. schools? George Washington as a reach and American as a match. For smaller schools in cities, Macalaster would be a bit of a reach but interesting. Northeastern is also a possibility. You eliminate a lot of schools, of course, if you don’t consider small town schools.

College of Charleston is a popular choice in our area. This would be a match or safety for you.

Are you only interested in private schools? Why?

What about flagships with honors colleges?

Besides being strong in pre-med and liberal arts and having some city life, what else do you want in a school?

As for “city life,” I graduated from UCI, so I know what’s at and around that school…Irvine Spectrum, Bren Center, etc…so is that what you want…off-campus places to go?

Quiet campus?
Spirited campus with big sports to watch?
Attractive campus?
even mix of males and females?

Occidental sounds good, but it might be a reach for you. It sounds as if you want to stay in California. Are you willing to go further, and if so, how far? How about Lewis and Clark?

Willamette might also be a good option.
