Male international, need quite a lot of aid.
SAT I: over 2200
SAT II: didnt sit for them yet.
GPA: We dont have GPA, but my class rank is 1/126.
ECAs are good, especially one in which I have been heavily involved for 2 years(going to be 2.5 when I apply) and have a leadership position in. I am very passionate about that, so my essays might be about them.
Good consistent work in debate, science clubs.
No olympiads tho.

So, I had to kick CMU, and gerogia tech out of my list as they do not give aid to internaitonals. And now I am left with only Columbia and Princeton.

I am not so sure about columbia, due to the fact that the city is so expensive. The idea of grade deflation and a not-so-reputed social life makes me apprehensive about Pton.

I had clark as my safety, but worcester sucks.

I want to study Engineering(civil, or electrical), but am also interested in economics. so please help me make some sort of a shortlist.

MIT is an amazing school for engineering! It’s extremely selective but you would probably be a competitive applicant. Carnegie Mellon is also a good match for you with very good engineering as well. UC Berkely is a good one too!

Mellon does not give aid to international students.

The last few students to get into MIT were international math olympiad participants. Furthermore, the first question interviewers ask for MIT is " Why no olympiad, son?". So, MIT is out.(also because it is very hard to get into…)

Berkeley won’t work because they don’t give aid to int’ls.

You need to apply to the few schools that “meet need” for int’ls …and a few that give huge merit scholarships to int’ls. Those can be your safeties.

How much can your family pay? Keep in mind that these schools that give aid are going to be determining how much your family should pay. The family doesn’t get to decide. The school decides.

I’d qualify for a lot of aid, somewhere around 85% of total tuition. perhaps more.

My ignorance about US colleges has ensured that I don’t know which schools give huge merit scholarships to intls. Nor do i know if i would qualify for such a scholarship.

I really need to get a shortlist soon, and am freaking out…given the fact that I am not so good at writing, I find it difficult to rid myself of visions of impending doom.
