Where should I apply?

Hi, I’m a rising senior that’s pretty much clueless so I’m wondering if I can get some help on here.
Stats: 3.68/4.0 GPA
ACT 30 (first time, will retake)
SAT 1880 (first time, don’t plan on retaking)
APs: Chinese 5, World History 4, Macro Micro 5, Psych 5
Ranking: school doesn’t rank, but counselor told me I’m not in top 10%
Honor roll every year
1 Unpaid internship
1 paid job: summer camp counselor
Volunteer TA in my high school, middle school and kindergarten
Not sure if it matters but I’m asian, female, living abroad, studying in a private, religious high school, low family income (parents retired).

I plan on applying to some UCs, USC, and Occidental. I really like the claremont colleges but I dont think I can get into any of it. Should I even bother applying? Besides the ones listed, I’m really not sure where I should apply, and what schools are considered a match school. I need somewhere that is willing to give financial aid, since 40k is the maximum amount my parents can afford. My family’s financial situation is quite unique, so most colleges I have emailed told me that I need to write a letter to explain my circumstances and probably will have to appeal, so I think I need a school with more generous aid.
I’m not a resident of any state so I will have to pay out-of-state, since I live abroad. I plan on majoring in either business or international relations.
Can you guys please suggest some match and safety schools? Thanks so much!

If you are currently living abroad, you will be considered an OOS student for the UCs. The UCs are $55k per year. The UCs don’t give financial aid to OOS students. You may want to apply to the California state colleges at $36k per year.

only some schools discriminate against asian students.( the ivies and a few others) so if you avoid the elitist schools you will avoid the discrimination. why not expand your search beyond california, the united states has some many amazing schools.
