if your SATs and GPA are high enough...
Barnard College
Carnegie Mellon University
Columbia University: Columbia College
Johns Hopkins University
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
New York University
State University of New York at Binghamton
Yale
University of Pennsylvania

those came up on www.collegeboard.com search. you should try it.

There are many excellent 6-8 year programs...but your SAT score needs to be over 200 to have a any sort of chance...and over 2100 to have a good chance. Among the top programs are:

Brown University
Northwestern University
Rutgers University
University of California-Los Angeles
University of Rochester
University of Southern California

But like I said, to have a serious shot, you need an SAT score over 2100.

If your are going into any science,AP chemistry is a must!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My school doesn't offer ap chem

bump up

I would like more responses.

I don't know how affirmative action works at the BS/MD programs...if it exists at all or is practiced just as much as in regular undergrad admissions. Black females are certainly very rare and close to non-existent in the applicant pools of these programs, so I think you'd get a bump for diversity anyways. At the BU 7-yr med program, one of my interviewers and I got into a discussion about affirmative action, and he told me that 95% of the interviewees were Asian/Indian, 5%Jewish, with the occasional Anglo-saxon. Blacks and hispanics didn't figure into the equation at all.

Which med programs are you looking at specifically? It's hard to give chances for unknown schools. In general, however, I would say that you need to have more hospital experience. There are people who get in with simply research I believe, but you havent won enough recognition for that to happen in your case. Only one year of hospital volunteering doesn't seem to suffice.

So decent chances, but nothing really pops in your stats. My advice would be to apply to a wide range of med programs, not just the most prestigious and well-known ones, as well as normal undergrads.

i really do not know where i want to go?

SUNY Stonybrook
BU
Colgate
Amherst

A diverse liberal arts school with strong science pre-med curriculum

May 2005 Sat scores

M 600
W 600
CR 500

Any college ideas?

i think johns hopkins would be good-- they are excellent in the sciences and obviously have a great med. school. sorry, i took the old SATs, what do all your scores equate to in those terms? i have no idea what they mean.

You are likely out of range for med programs with those scores unfortunately. What kind of atmosphere are you looking for, big/ small, etc.

You would not be doing yourself a favor by going for a 7 year program. A 600 math SAT suggests that you will be working very hard and maybe needing some extra help to get through pre med math and science. A 500CR means the sheer volumn of reading won't be as easy as it is for some. One year is a blip in your life. A lot of people don't get into med school who would like to, your focus should be on a place that will really assist you, not speed up the process.

I would really advise looking at smaller, nurturing colleges that will really work with you. Good luck!

I'm taking the ACT in June. Are there any suggestions on reviewing fir it?
