I went to a private school my freshman year and transferred into a public school sophomore year. Idk if that affects anything..

Penn’s probably a high reach, perhaps out of reach. Since you are an Asian American, you probably need to get your SAT cr, bio, and chem substantially higher to have a decent shot.

I would still ED to Penn if that’s where you want to go. They have a good number for ED acceptance. Look into schools like Rice and Northwestern.

like in the news ranking, around what rank [ex) rank 10-25] schools are good for me?

Your SAT CR score is low for Penn. So is Bio SAT II

What is your likely major and career?

It’s hard to suggest match and safeties without knowing your major.

What else do you want in a school?

Is money an issue or will your parents pay for wherever you go?

If you like Penn (urban environment and size), I would also recommend Georgetown, Hopkins, Brown, Columbia, U. Chicago, Wash U., Northwestern, Rice as reaches;
NYU, Carnegie Mellon, George Washington, USC, Tufts, BC as matches, and BU, Northeastern, Rutgers, Villanova, and Case Western as safeties.

Tufts and Holy Cross are strong schools. Both have great science programs.

You look like you’re really good at tennis. Have you talked to any coaches/the Penn tennis coach?

why are you asking random strangers on the internet who do not know you to choose where you will be happy for the next four years of your life???

You certainly have a shot at Penn. To say it’s out of reach is absurd–you are in the top 5% of your class. Apply, apply, apply ED! You don’t need three SATII scores–only two–so retake Bio etc in Sept or Oct and if it doesn’t work out, you still have a solid 790 and 740. Then, in November, retake the SATI to majorly boost your CR score (important)…that way, if you get deferred by Penn (which, unless you’re a complete bore, is the worst that can happen)…you’ll have new & improved scores to show them when you apply in the spring.

Regarding testing, if I’m reading correctly you already have a 780 and a 740 on SATIIs. That’s good enough. Only the schools that require 3 will look at more.

If you want to devote some time to testing, the single best thing you could do IMHO is retake the SAT and aim at pulling your CR score above 700. I see anything else as pretty much a waste of time, and possibly even a negative as it increases the possibility that you will look like the stereotypical test-obsessed Asian student. That is not a plus for Ivies and other top schools.

I think you definitely have a shot at Penn. You also should consider Cornell, Hopkins, Rice, Tufts, University of Rochester as a safety, maybe Pitt honors as another safety. There are many good suggestions above. I don’t see the U of C as a particular fit. I agree that if Penn is our #1 and you can swing the finances you should apply ED.

“Georgetown, Hopkins, Brown, Columbia, U. Chicago, Wash U., Northwestern, Rice as reaches; NYU, Carnegie Mellon, George Washington, USC, Tufts, BC as matches, and BU, Northeastern, Rutgers, Villanova, and Case Western as safeties.”

This is a pretty good list. I might take out GW, BU and Case Western though.

I think given the uber competitive pool of applicants from S NJ, Penn will be very tough with the current CR score. The focus should be on pulling that up substantially.

I am looking for a 7 yr dental program

Now you tell us! That probably invalidates everyone’s advice. It is not uncommon for such programs to have very specific SATII requirements, for example.

^^^ Sorry, Well does anyone know any good 7 yr programs?

Pittsburgh would be a safety for you, and you meet the requirements for the automatic acceptance into dental school. I still believe it’s 8 years though.
