where should i consider?

hi!

im an international student who was educated in the USA throughout my middle school and high school years. i decided to take a year off after high school and visit south korea (home) for the first time in ten years to spend time with my family, work (for the first time) and travel! it has been a wonderful time but now that i have been out of the formal education system, i want to go to college!

now im searching for colleges in the US because i absolutely love the education here. i just took the may SAT and got 2040 (CR680, M670, W690). i am planning on retaking it in september/november. also i am taking world history, biology and spanish SAT IIs in a few weeks. i graduated with 3.81/4.00 GPA. i was heavily involved with tech, newspaper and percussion in which i held leadership positions in while i was in high school.

i am interested in pursuing international studies/relations, public health since I want to work for WHO or UN!

i do need financial aid for college and the need blind colleges are extremely competitive! i am fascinated with dartmouth and columbia school of general studies as of right now but i do realize that i need safety schools/match schools!

any suggestions would be appreciated!

Why GS and not the college? If accepted, the college will meet need, GS won’t, from what I understand. Even though the need blind are limited and competitive, search more for need aware who will meet need if accepted, that is a much longer list. Of course there are even more that will give you some money, you will have to apply to see.

I’m afraid that the OP is probably not competitive for Columbia College, but you are correct about GS. It is very difficult for international students to secure financial aid at American colleges. I think that there are threads on this site dedicated to the subject. I think Dartmouth is also an extreme reach for you. You might look at some Quaker colleges like Guilford or Earlham, which have global outlooks and are generous toward students in your academic range. They have a long tradition of international service.
