Where Should I Go to College?

Hi! Please help me decide where I should go!!!
I have gotten into Indiana, Penn State, Maryland, Delaware, and Binghamton. I am waiting (because of deferral) from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Tulane. I still have to hear back from UT Austin, UConn, Illinois at Urbana Champaign (tomorrow)and SUNY Geneseo. I want to do Forensic Psychology and double major in Criminology and Psychology. I have no idea where to go! Wisconsin would be my top choice if I get in but I am not sure!
I want big, spirited, not too New York based, and possibly easier to get to from New York.
If I don’t get into Michigan, Wisconsin, UT or Illinois, I would probably go for Penn State or Maryland, but I don’t know which of those two either! Should I go to Penn State or Maryland over any of those four?
Thanks so much!!!

Penn State has a rural college town with great school spirit, however it’s hard to get to from New York. I would choose Maryland, which is easier to get to and is also pretty big and spirited.

Do you still want to go to Tulane? As many predicted, it’s been a rough admissions cycle down there this year due to the need to have a smaller class after enrolling an almost unmanageably large class in the fall of 2015. If you are still interested, here is some great advice from Interim Admissions Director. Jeff Shiffman: http://tuadmissionjeff.blogspot.com/2011/12/ive-been-deferred-now-what.html. And while you’re poking around on the site, read Jeff’s post about the fact that the college admissions process truly, madly, deeply does not define you or your potential in any way. It’s gone viral. See, http://tuadmissionjeff.blogspot.com/2015/12/its-going-to-be-okay.html?q=It’s+going+to+be+OKay.

Who believes that the college admissions process defines them? The attempt to disabuse students of this “belief” seems almost to serve the – possibly initially non-existing – concept.

If money isn’t an issue, then I think the SUNYs are off the table

Which of your schools offer a Forensic Psychology major?

Good question, maybe helping you find an answer to the problem.

I don’t think any of them really offer the specific major, but I would have to double major in criminology and psychology.

@merc81, I know it sounds crazy, but in certain communities in this country the college admissions process is greatly impacting teens’ mental health. Read about the tragedy of suicide clusters among uber-high achieving youth in Silicon Valley (http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/12/the-silicon-valley-suicides/413140/). Also google some of the work of journalist Frank Bruni of the NY Times, who tracks this issue frequently. I regret the digression from the topic brynn336 wanted us to address, and I hope it won’t lead to a plethora of replies, but all parents (and kids) do need to keep an appropriate perspective on this aspect of their lives.

@goldenbear2020 Why is Penn State hard to get to from NY? It is virtually a one road trip.
