Visit both of them and decide. La Jolla and Exposition Park are two very different places. Check out the course requirements (whose program do you like more?) Talk to some students.

I agree with frozen.

yea... definitely check out the surrounding neighborhoods of both places...drastically different.

I'm making just about the same decision as you.. going into EE and choosing between UCSD and USC. I live in San Diego, and I love it.. all of socal rocks.

After visiting both Engineering schools, they both seem VERY nice and VERY similar - very research oriented. It almost seems like the Qualcomm guys: Viterbi (USC) and Jacobs (SD) are trying to one-up each other with their donations... Viterbi gives 52mil, Jacobs gives 100mil... it works out well for us :D

I'm about 85% on San Diego right now, due to the full-ride scholarship (got the USC Presidential, still damn expensive).. so yeah just visit em both, they're both great EE schools! Good luck!

My opinion is UCSD, anyday

u should go visit first. i MIGHT be in the same situation (but i think i'll be rejected by USC considering i haven't heard anything yet) but i'd go for SD cuz of cheaper cost etc. they're both around the same rankings for engineering i believe..but u def should visit b4 making a decision

congrats on your accpetances to two great engineering programs. Visit both, there very different schools, with very different atmospheres, ranked similarly overall. i would personally choose ucsd for the academic atmosphere and beautiful setting. i dont like south central nearly as much as la jolla as a setting for a university, however, for college experience usc has ucsd beat. overall each university will fit a very different person. Again, personally i would choose ucsd, excellent engineering department, and great location. Either way, you cant go wrong. Again, congrats!

imma visit over spring break and ill probably choose to attend one of these two schools.

ill post my final decision a bit later (after i go 4/8)

USC is in the straight ghetto. once you walk off campus your in the hood. UCSD is in La Jolla, surrounded by mansions and the beach. you make the choice.

alright... so maybe its a little ghetto but as far as LA ghetto goes, its really not that bad. i used to live about a mile or so away from USC and i never had any problems. I think I was one of the only people who walked around at night alone there though. USC is great during the day but walking off campus at night... not good. So its fine if youre street smart and use common sense but id still probably go with ucsd, whats not to love.

UCSD is renowned for science. I think.
