Where should i go?

If i want to set myself up for the best opportunity to get into a good graduate business (MBA) school, where should i go?
Duke and study economics
OR
University of Michigan Ross School of Business

Duke is a way better overall school but the Ross School of Business is pretty prestigious and i would be studying business

You are asking for advice for choosing between “way better overall” versus “pretty prestigious”.

I would always discourage someone from making a decision based on what people may or may not think is important at some point in the future. Michigan’s reputation will likely be different in four years and it would be foolish to decide based on perceived current prestige.

Admission to the better MBA programs requires several years of increasingly responsible work experience, good letters of recommendation from work supervisors and professors, good undergrad GPA, and good GMAT scores. The college you graduate from barely matters at all. It really, truly is OK to choose the college where you think you will thrive, rather than the one with the “better name” for your undergrad degree.

Either one will get you where you want to go.
So where would you rather be for the next 4 years? They are very different environments!
What would you rather study, economics or business?

I’d pick Ross School of Business. That being said, others are correct in advising you to pick the “best fit” school for you and better chances of a high GPA.

Either Ross or Duke will meet your needs if you do well in their programs. Ross is probably more connected with mfg sector and Duke with Wall Street and so think about what you want to do with that economics/business degree.
