Where should I go?

As I said in previous posts, I'm a junior in high school on Long Island, New York who wants to attend the University of Texas. Sadly, that dream is being slowly vanquished since it is nearly impossible for me to get in considering I'm not in the top 10% of my class. First off I want to say I love the south from Virginia and further down. I've looked into colleges such as Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, etc... I am also interested in attending fairly large schools such as the previously named state universities. Coming from New York, I still want a some- what populated surrounding area and not just a campus in the middle of no where (rural is fine but I don't want to be completely isolated from the the rest of the state). The biggest MUST, aside from having a pretty good education, is having a D1-A football team since watching sports is my passion. Any suggestions for the schools listed above or any others that are nice would be greatly appreciated.

Classwork: I've taken accelerated, AP, and Pre-Ap classes every year and basically every class fits into that category. The only class that isn't part of that category is French. My average from my freshman year to now is an 87.3 with an SAT score of 2010 and an ACT score of 32.

EC: I play two varsity sports, AAU basketball, and play basketball in two other leagues. I'm a member of a good amount of clubs and plan on being the leader of two of them my senior year. I don't really have any community service hours but if it is that important I can easily get 100+ within the next year that I have.

Thanks for all college recommendations and information

Apply to UAlabama you’d qualify for the automatic scholarships.
What about UF or FSU?
Essentially, any big school in the SEC should be fine :)

Sports are HUGE at Virginia Tech, football is practically worshiped there! and with your scores you should get in even OOS. Tech is wayyyyyy out in the western part of the state but close to Roanoke and the town Tech is in is an awesome college town. Tech has about 24k undergrads

Some other schools in VA:
UVA big sports school, really good at basketball, soccer, lacrosse, and baseball, not so good in football. But UVA plays in the ACC and has a pretty big stadium. Plus C’ville is a picturesque college town. UVA has about 15k undergrads

William and Mary: In my opinion, W&M is the most academic of these 3 (but of course I’m biased). W&M plays football in the FCS but is really good in that league (we beat UVA a few years ago) and W&M has been to the semi-finals of the playoffs twice the past 10 years I think. W&M also has a pretty decent basketball team and good baseball and soccer teams. Williamsburg is pretty touristy during the summer but there’s tons of shops there. William and Mary has a little over 6k undergrads

Both UVA and William and Mary are really hard to get into OOS but both are ranked in the top 5 best value colleges in the nation, (2nd and 4th respectively).

Thanks for the answer I visited W&M and UVA. W&M was really nice but it didn’t have the “liveliness” on campus but hey, it was a normal day so what much more should I expect? UVA had a really nice campus but the surrounding area felt so dull and gloomy it was an instant no. VT on the other hard looks very appealing to me and my dad spoke about it once. That seems like a nice fit for what I’m looking for.

Yeah from what my friends at W&M have told me, Monday-Thursday studying with club/sports/and some other activities then Friday-Sunday are let loose party days. I’ve also heard some party every night, but regardless, everyone has a lot of fun. Have you visited Tech? Their campus is gorgeous and everyone there is really friendly and they just ooze school spirit everywhere. Plus it doesn’t get too hot there, I visited in August and it was like 80 degrees.

Sports and school spirit played a big role in my decision as well, and Tech hands down had the most athletically inclined campus I had seen. Every where you looked people were wearing maroon and talking about hokie football.

If you can afford it, Miami.

Nope never have but from what you’re saying it sounds like a perfect fit. I’ll check out all of the GPA requirements/SAT scores

And luckily my family has a fair share of wealth so money shouldn’t be a problem.
