I've been admitted to Ohio State - Columbus and Michigan State as a first year business major. I know location is the most important thing, but other than that what else is important? Which one is better atmosphere wise?

Both are good. To help you decide, we’d need to know cost (after scholarship and before any loan).

Thanks for the reply! I am on full scholarship so the cost isn’t a problem.

Wow, that’s impressive! If you got a full scholarship, I assume you got into the Honors Programs, so this should be what we’re comparing.
Both Honors Programs are comprehensive and very well-thought out. Clearly MSu’s program is designed to attract students who would otherwise attend UMichigan and the perks are really great (you can even take graduate classes as an undergrad, something that’s highly valuable if you intend to attend a PHD program, especially the best-dunded, most selective ones, and they have scholarships for study abroad.)
Then again, OHIo state’s program is excellent and OSU is a research powerhouse so you could get engaged in research early on.

Perhaps a nod to Ohio State for more comfortable weather (I wouldn’t go as far as to say “better weather” though :p).
Ohio State’s football team is stronger than Michigan State’s, if that matters at all to you.
If you live in MI, going to OH could be your opportunity to discover another area of the country, all expenses paid (sorta…)
If you live in OH, … same thing for MI!

Ohio State’s football team is stronger than Michigan State’s???

This year, they played in the Big Ten Championship Game, which MSU won. Then, it beat Stanford in the Rose Bowl to finish #3 in the country; OSU finished just outside of the Top Ten. Yes, OSU does have historical superiority, but for the next few years, MSU should be pretty good. Now, I have no connection to either school and don’t like the Big Ten as a whole in sports, but I am just presenting the facts.

Sorry, survivorfan, I recognize I don’t know enough about football but I was trying to find things to distinguish one or the other (it was just the impression of someone who doesn’t follow football. UMich, Ohio State, Nebraska, Penn State… seemed to be the big football programs and I realize this may change season to season).
So, another tie between MSU and OSU.
In the end, OP will have to attend admitted student days and decide on “fit” or “gut feeling”.
Hopefully FMahdi will post his/her decision so that readers can learn from his/her decision process!
