Where Should I Go??

I'm an upcoming senior and I have nooooo idea where I want to apply. Here's a bit of background, I have a 3.4 gpa with full IB Diploma, I have a 1690 on the SAT. As for EC's I'm a ski instructor, I've played 10 years of baseball, 2 years of high school swim team, key club member. I go to interlake high school which is one of the best public schools I'm the nation .. Into my personality, I like to occasionally party, so that's a part in my decision. My top choices are UCSB, UW, Cal Pol Slo/Pomona, Uc Davis, Uc irvine, the university of Oregon, and Oregon state... I'd like to stay west side... I'm majoring in computer science too, so any suggestions would be appreciated!!!!
Thanks

Ohhh and I’m also considering early decision to Carnegie Mellon or any of the schools listed above

Forget CMU, you dont have the stats for consideration.

What is your SAT breakdown. Do you understand how much math is req’d for CS? What is the highest level of math you will take in HS? What math grades do you get?

How much will your parents pay? If they wont pay the full costs of OOS publics, then take those off your list. Are you instate for Wash? (I think Interlake is in Wash).

Unless your parents will pay for OOS schools ($50k per year for UCs), then you need to focus on Wash schools that will accept your stats into a CS program.

Even if your parents will pay, I think your stats would be a hard sell to a Calif public and CS.

Does WWU have CS? I hear it is getting harder to get into.

Calculate your UC-weighted GPA. If you are a full-IB candidate, it might be considerably higher than your posted GPA. My son’s UC-weighted GPA was over 4.0 (I can’t recall precisely what it was), with a 3.3-3.4 unweighted GPA. He was full-IB. Unfortunately, you are looking at one of the most “impacted” disciplines in the UC/CSU system, and I’m afraid your test scores won’t get into most of the schools you’re talking about. Even a significant improvement to, say, 1800-1900 will still rule out the top STEM programs. U of Oregon, CalPoly-Pomona, Oregon State, and Cal States other than SJSU (competitive for Computer Science given its location) are probably the most promising public colleges for you. If you’re looking at other state universities, you might want to move a little east and inland, to some of the other western states with better acceptance rates. I’m sure most of them have decent CS majors. Evergreen State is a solid safety for you.

Check out Santa Clara, its location is ideal.

Thanks to everyone this really helps

If i do early apply to either UCD or Cal Poly SLO will my chances go up?

There is no “early” option for the UCs (although I understand that UC Riverside has some sort of guarantee program for early applicants). The UC application “goes live” on November 1st (12:01 a.m.) and closes on November 30th (11:59 p.m.). We were out-of-state, and so none of the special situations, such as Regents notifications, applied to us. I can’t remember what the protocols are for CalPoly-SLO (we visited, but my son did not apply). You can check easily enough on their website. I think that the CSUs have a similar process to the UCs, but don’t take my word for it.

Would you be full pay?
Regardless, your SAT score is WAY too low for CS at many of those schools.
Due to your SAT scoreUCSB, UW, Cal Pol Slo/Pomona, Uc Davis, and even UCI would be reaches, even with Full IB and Interlake which offset things a bit… - CS is competitive and hard to get into.
UC’s would expect your parents to pay 55K, can they?
UCSC and Santa Clara may be matches if you’re full pay.
