I'm a senior in high school who plays viola, and I am looking around at colleges, trying to gather information. I'd like to get a degree in music performance at some college. What are some of the best places to study viola in the Midwestern US?
Also, what are some scholarships that I could apply for, since I would need financial assistance if I was to attend college?

I know that Indiana University has a legendarily strong Music school. University of Cincinnati’s CCM is well respected, as is CCPA (Chicago College of Performing Arts) at Roosevelt University in Chicago. I think that DePaul’s Music School is also quite good.

if you do a search of college confidential by typing in viola, you will find several threads like the one below:

I’m glad you have your mind on money, too, because it’s more important than GPA, SAT/ACTs, ECs, etc.

Look at Northwestern too. Also full-need in fin aid.

Wouldn’t the teacher matter more than the school, though?

Most of us can only suggest some schools, OP. The teachers you’ll have to research and then interview.
