I'm a white upper class student at an elite catholic school in Pittsburgh, PA, I'm entering my senior year, and I was wondering which schools I should look at.

SAT: 2030
CR:730 M:680 W:620

SAT IIs
US Hist:760
Lit:730

Rank:13/206
Weighted GPA:4.66/5

ECs(I'll just give the essentials):
Editor, Newspaper
NHS
Ultimate
Volunteering: Soup Kitchens, Food Banks(about 15 hours/school year)

My school doesn't offer many AP courses, but I took or am taking:
AP US, AP Chem, AP Euro, AP English

I'm obviously not looking at HYP, but I was thinking maybe of some schools in the top 20-30, and I hope to major in Poli Sci.

Carnegie Mellon would probably be the perfect match for you, but I could hardly imagine you attending there...I mean, you do live in Pittsburgh...

Don't restrict yourself based solely by numbers, either. Rankings do not tell all. Some of these schools I'm going to recommend to you may be a little bit outside of the top 20-30. THEY'RE STILL GREAT SCHOOLS.

Now, you're a little sketchy on details. You say you want a school that offers poli sci. Almost every college has a political science major. What kind of college experience do you want? Let's try and narrow it down....

I was thinking of schools in the suburban setting. Schools that are not in the middle of a large city, but on the edges of it. CMU has the location that I'm looking for, as it is outside of downtown Pittsburgh, however, it's in Pittsburgh, and it doesn't offer Poli Sci as a major. As for size, anywhere from 2,000 to 10,000 students would be ideal.
