I am a Washington state resident and have gotten in to:

-University of Washington, honors program, business school
-George Washington University, business school
-University of California San Diego

-waitlisted at University of Michigan

-waiting to hear from Coast Guard Academy - confident I will get in...

any input would be great...I am kind of leaning towards UW and GWU..The difference between these two is that UW is a bit larger and has a football team whereas GW doesnt....

Yes, I have visited both. I am used to the city life since I live near NYC, but the faculty at Hamilton seemed much more social, as did the entire college community itself. While I am not a big socializer/partier/drinker/stoner/etc., I will say that getting close with certain members of such a community, particularly with the college administration and the professors, may help a student get into a good grad school (that is if you want to go to a grad school, as I do).

While on the other hand, GWU has a much better location, slightly more name recognition (though Hamilton has good connections with some top schools like Harvard), more internship opportunities (though for economics, merrill lynch is hot at Hamilton), and the ability to take grad schools while undergrad (a big plus for grad school prospects).

It is a tough decision, but I am leaning more on the side of GWU. But only by a micrometer. If Hamilton was more urban, I would have gone with Hamilton no doubt. Why did the fricken school have to be in the middle of nowhere?

It is VERY possible to make connections with professors at GW, especially after freshman year, when classes become much smaller. My D has had no problem getting recommendations from professors for summer programs and internships.

^That is very good to hear. It has been one of my big worries that I would have a difficult time getting close to the professors due to the large size of the school, and also because of how busy the professors seem to be at the bustlin' GWU as compared to the professors at the more rural Hamilton.

that is good to know...do any of you know how the business school is at GW?
also how is the social life? it seems like people are more independent in the sort of city life..
