Northwestern? Notre Dame? Both have great Business schools and are close to you. Also for lesser tier schools compared to those are U of Indiana-Bloomington and U of Wisconsin-Madison.

Just some close to home options for you. Hope it helps.

U Michigan? Doesn't actually have a finance major, but they do have business/economics-related majors. Plus, it's impossible to not have a good time in Ann Arbor.

List of schools to look at for you would be

University of Illinois Fighting Illini
Northwestern University Wildcats
University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish
University of Wisconsin Badgers
Indiana University Hoosiers
University of Michigan Wolverines
Pennsylvania State University Nittany Lions

You don't give much info but with your rank and score you could hve a chance at any college. You should certainly consider top business programs like

Wharton--Penn
MIT
Berkeley
Michigan
UVA
NYU
CMU

Or great economics programs that lead to finance jobs

Schools like Duke, Northwestern, and U of Chicago won't have finance majors. But if you're looking to going into finance, you could major in economics at these schools.

Northwestern has Kellogg undergrad certificate in financial economics. It's actually pretty hard-core and advanced (MBA-level; deeper than what's typically required for a typical undergrad finance major). The courses are hard but another hard part on top of that is getting in.

They also have an excellent program in industrial engineering and management sciences department, which offers financial engineering courses.

You have to remember that he wants to have a good time while in college. Probably big state schools such as Wisconsin and Illinois would be best for him.
