Where should I Go?

I’m having a really tough time deciding where I’d like to spend the next 4 years of my life because I applied to so many schools (regret this majorly lol) so below are my acceptances w/ my merit award money. I wanted to know what the people on here think and where they’d advise I go. I’m looking to study econ/poli sci/ history … minor in russian/philosophy/ some other language. Grad school plans are between business and law school. It does not appear as though I qualify for any need-based financial aid and this is why I’m having a tough time deciding on where to go even though Cornell is #1.

St. Peter’s College - Full Scholarship

St. John’s University - Full Scholarship (Honors Program)

SUNY Binghamton - Accepted

Rutgers University (New Brunswick) - $5,000 per year (Honors Program)

Bentley University - $17,000 per year (Honors Program)

Lafayette College - $16,000 per year (Marquis Scholar)

Union College - $7,000 per year

McGill University (accepted at the Faculty of Arts, waitlisted by Faculty of Management)

Cornell University - Accepted (School of Industrial & Labor Relations)

Thanks for your help!

Lafayette or Cornell would be your best choices, from this list. I would choose L for financial reasons.

St. Johns because it’s free. But Cornell, for me, would be hard to pass up.

Are you a NY resident? If so, ILR at Cornell will make it cheaper, although still pricey. Contrary to popular ignorance, the contract schools at Cornell are not SUNYs. They are about $10,000 -12,000 cheaper for NYS residents than a full price at Cornell (still more than twice the cost of a SUNY).

If you are a NY resident and can afford it, I’d go w/ Cornell as a no brainer.

I have been accepted to UCLA, UC Berkeley and the Naval Academy. Any thoughts from anyone out there as to the better education? I am looking at a science background with possible Med school. Thanks. LA Dog

I would say:

Cornell University

Lafayette University

Rutgers University

If you live in NJ, the Rutgers tuiton is significantly cheaper, so if money is an issue, I would say that Rutgers is your best bet. Lafayette has a really pretty campus, and Cornell is, well, Cornell. I ED’d there and got denied so I’m really jealous right now =) But you will get a good education at any of those schools.

yes i am from NJ so i won’t get NY tuition for cornell :/

I mean, while that may be not such a good thing at Cornell, if you pick Rutgers your tuition will be pretty cheap. I hear nothing but good things about the Honors Program at Rutgers, so if you don’t go to Cornell for whatever reason, you’re definitely covered at Rutgers! Your post says that you are planning on going to graduate school – it will most likely be easier to have a better GPA at Rutgers than at Cornell. Lots of people from Rutgers go to great grad schools.

Rutgers or St Johns.
