Hello! I am an out of state student and I have a couple questions about being an out of state student.

What college year are you in?

Are you an out of state student?

Do you live on campus?

Which is better for an out of state student: on or off campus? Why?

Do you think out-of-state students are more disadvantaged compared to in-state students? Why or why not?

Thanks <3

Are you the same guy who posted the survey before?

I was an out-of-state student for about a year and half at a UC school before transferring to a college in my home state. Whether or not you will be “disadvantaged” compared to in-state-students really depends on the school. Are most of the people attending locals? Is it a commuter school? If you answer yes to any of those questions… You may have to be prepared to be alone on weekends because everyone may take off to go home.

I lived in the dorms my freshman year. I met some people that eventually led to some good friendships. Did I like the dorms? Heck no! But I suppose I would recommend them for your first year to get adjusted to campus life. If you live off campus you have a good chance of going to class and then just going straight back to your apartment without ever meeting anyone. Though if you live in an off campus apartment (which I vastly preferred) you can still get involved with people through clubs or Greek life.
