Where should i realisticallly apply?

Hey guys im a rising senior here and i really dont know where i stand academically. I have high hopes for my undergraduate future but im not sure if my expectations are realistic or totally a reach. 2170 SAT (m-720, cr-730, w-720), subject tests 780 (math 2) and 750 (us history). Have an average to good gpa (school has not released). Will also probably be a national merit commended or semi depending on score (213) in Texas. I taught a 6th grade English class for 18 weeks and they all passed the TAKS test. I also shadowed a orthopedic surgeon for 18 weeks. I have lab experience (this summer and last summer) and will be included in at least two publications. my gpa is currently a 92, but that will probably go up to a 93 or 94 when school releases new grades. I really want to know where i should apply. my 1st choice is currently cornell with my second being USC. i am applying from the houston area. Please help?

You’ll be commended not a semifinalist. Well, you have a good shot at USC.

If you’re really in love with Cornell, go for it! You definitely have a shot with these scores and a good GPA. If you believe that you can get into USC regular, then go early with Cornell. I’m not so sure about USC chances because kids from my school rarely apply.

If you can’t calculate your own gpa you don’t deserve anything over a 2.0.

well that was unneccesarilly mean… but ok. thanks guys. i think i’ll retake my sat in oct and give cornell my best shot

I think Cornell is worth applying, if they have an ED option and you know you want to go there go for it, do you have a lot of community service?

you will definitely get into UT-Austin
might as well apply to Rice you’ll get in
but if you want to go farther from home
but yeah USC values test scores highly so you have a good shot
and I also think Cornell is a realistic bet

[How do I calculate my commulative high school GPA?](http://askville.amazon.com/calculate-commulative-high-school-GPA/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=8292326)

This should help. My SAT score is just 10 pts higher than yours, so don’t sweat. Try taking the ACT, it’s more straightforward and a lot easier in most aspects.
