I have no idea about financial aid.

However, I'm in a desperate need some extra aid in college tuitions.

Where should I start?

What should I research?

Can someone guide me through this please?

Click the Paying for College button on the left hand side.

Go to here http://www.collegeboard.com/parents/pay/

Go to the FA website of the schools you are considering applying to and read their requirements.

Read some of the recent threads here on topics that seem applicable to you. use the Search function.

Become familiar with what FAFSA and Profile are.

Become familiar with need based vs. merit based aid. Understand whether or not you will be eligible for either or both.

Read How to Pay for College Without Going Broke.

Dadx4 gives good advice.

I, too, recommend Paying for College Without Going Broke by Kalman Chany. The 2008 edition comes out in a few weeks.

I would also suggest that you use one of the online EFC calculators (finaid.com has a good one) to see what kind of need based aid your family might receive.

Need based aid and merit based aid are very different. Know what the difference is and which you are more likely to get.

Like the others above, I agree that "Paying for College without Going Broke" is a good way to start.

As for applying for grants/scholarships, you can always check out www.fastweb.com or www.edfund.org. Fastweb gives students the opportunity to apply for scholarships that best demonstrate their strengths.

Familiarize yourself with your family's tax forms: depending on your situation (household income, multiple people in your family attending college, and other factors) you could qualify for need-based aid (research for more information).

thanx for the info. one more question,
I'm international. Any chance of me getting a good financial aid?

Check out sticky topic number 2, " IMPORTANT: international student aid."

it depends much on your stats. u can get merit based scholarships at many universities, and also some need-based aid on some private universities (like liberal arts college's). aid is kinda limited to int'l students
