Where should I study abroad?

I'm a law school student and trying to pick between four cities... Bilbao, Madrid, Turin, or Milan. I've never been to Spain or Italy (though I did spend a quarter in Paris my freshman year of college), so I'm flying blind a little bit. I also don't speak Spanish or Italian. Anyone been to any of these places and have insight?

Milan is fabulous but I’ve never thought about it within an academic setting. The people there are friendly enough, and it’s an international fashion capital. But Madrid also sounds great. Tough decision!

I had a friend tell me that Milan was a bit industrial and not very pretty - any truth in that? Thanks for the insight!

Are you given schools from which to choose?

Madrid is fabulous. Bilbao is more industrial.

Both of my kids did SA in Madrid. One still lives there (though soon transferring to Valencia) and the other is doing so after she finishes UG in May.

Italy–Bocconi University, Milan

Italy–The International University College of Turin–Political Economy and Law

Spain–Deusto University, Bilbao–International and European Law

Spain–IE (Instituto de Empresa) Law School, Madrid-- International Business Law

The program in Madrid appeals to me least, but I’m sure I would be able to find classes I enjoyed. My other misgiving about Madrid and Milan is that I’m not really a “big city” girl - when I was in Paris, I felt pretty overwhelmed… but then again, I was only 18 and it was the first time I’d been to Europe. I’d like to find a place that has a sort of neighborhood feeling.
