i am currently a student of Stevens of Institute of Technology

i wanted to go to MIT,but someone said it was a reach for me...

and i want to go to a better engineering school

so i was wondering where should i apply to?

SAT I reading 640 math 750 Writing 620 total 2010
SAT II Math II 800 Physics 800
AP Physics C: mechanics 5 Physics C: electromagnetism 5 and Chemistry 5

i currently attend Stevens Institute of Technology and my current GPA is 3.8-9
i am enrolled in Scholars Program( kinda like honors program... its 4 years masters program)

also i am an immigrant who transferred in 2003

i hate keeping my gpa up and i was wondering if i keep my high gpa of 3.8-9, so when should i file transfer? ( i just finished freshmen year)

I think you had a good shot applying the first time. I’m not sure how many transfer students MIT accepts–probably not many. But if you have the desire to transfer and can make a compelling “Why Transfer” essay, then it’s worth a try.

look, there is no cookie cutter transfer applicant. you can’t be guaranteed an acceptance or a decline. strong essays and recommendations are the key!!

here’s some schools I know of with strong engineering programs (note, I’m not an engineering major or anything close )

cal poly
harvey mudd
cornell (pretty good acceptance rate for transfers)
embry riddle
cooper union
uc berkeley

I’ve heard good things about carnegie mellon too but I don’t know what your focus/major is. good luck though!
