Mow lawns or clean up dog crap. If you work for a corporation, you will get worked to death because they don't give a hoot about teenage workers because usually they dont care either.

Play poker over the internet.

"deal drugs" - actually not a bad idea.

Sure you could get caught, but think about it, alot of people who deal drugs aren't as intelligent as CCers, and they don't get caught. You could probably pull it off.

Gurl you gon' git band

He would get caught somehow, its takes serious cajones to sell drugs, and keep in mind you are usually dealing with the scum of the earth.

i was wondering if yall knew of any small business that hire ppl under 16? that might be a better place to work at

It depends on where you live, because small businesses are only found in one place. Ask around the places close to where you live.

hospital work??

I know someone who works for a local bookstore at 15, but that's about it. You'll probably have to wait until you're 16 to find many opportunities.

YES

Thank you so much for posting this. I work at Target too, I have since like, two Augusts, ago, and I absolutely hate it. I deliberately don't ask for Red Cards. It's my own way to protest.

Most of the time I work in Food Avenue, but I know cashiering and guest service too. Cashiering is pretty most the most pointless, monotonous waste of 8 hours you will ever experience. I think the Chinese should get rid of their water torture and just make all their prisoners cashier. They'll talk after four hours.

Oh god, what else...the place where I work, the management treats everyone under 25 like dog crap and anyone else like their best friend. If you don't step out of your lane and greet the "guests" and beckon them to come to your lane, you get biched at. If you stare off into space for the tiniest of seconds, you get biched at.

I seriously call in sick twice a month because I can't stand it. It's basically like your job is to wait around until you get yelled at.

Two days ago, they didn't let a cart attendant put on a jacket because it wasn't red. I live in Wisconsin, mind you.

But yeah, take it from me, $6.75/hr and $7.00/hr after three months isn't worth it. Go find a job at a family owned coffee shop or something. You work for a corporation and you're just asking for trouble.

how should i look for a newspaper delivery job (it would tie in well with my ECs)? also, do the papers get delivered to you first thing in the morning or do you have to claim them from somewhere? how early do you have to get up to deliver?

i think you have to get up insanely early to deliver papers. I know my paper arrives at my house around 5:30, and all the papers have to be stuffed with inserts and coupons before they're delivered. yeeps...

There is a tremendous downside to delivering newspapers. I did this for five or so years back in the late 80's/early 90s and you have to get up 365 days a year at promptly 5 am to deliver the papers in all kinds of weather. Plus you work on commission, so you have to knock on people's doors to get money from them. Was kind of intimidating for a then preteen. You might pull in around $45-$50 bucks a week, but it is rough work. This might have changed recently in terms of collecting the money, but the work is crazy nonetheless. Yes even on Christmas you have to get up at 5am!
