where should my daughter apply?

Is her GPA weighted or unweighted? According to the schools’ common data sets, 6 percent of entering freshmen had GPAs under 3.5 at W & M, and 4 percent were under that number at UVA. If her weighted GPA is higher and if she’s had a rigorous curriculum that will help, as will instate status, URM status, possible involvement in particular ECs, etc.

You’re fortunate in being from VA, which has such an excellent instate system. University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg is quite similar in feel to W & M, but less selective. Would your d like a large school setting? James Madison University might be for her (29 percent of entering freshmen had hs GPAs under 3.5). What does your d want to study?
