where should my daughter apply?

Hi,
I am also a virginia resident and S is hispanic. Virginia schools really, really want to keep instate minority kids who are likely to succeedd. Your daughter fits the bill. Not only should she look at VaTech, James Madison and Mary Washington, but there are really good small schools such as Radford and University of Richmond. The latter offers lots of aid and scholarships to instate minority kids. PLEASE invest in an SAT prep class if your daughter is not disciplined in doing self study…it really pays off. Also, lots of scholarships for virginia kids–minority and not–and probably some local/county ones too. Talk to your minority student coordinator (most districts or schools have someone) who will know about opportunities that you can’t always find on the web. Definitely sign up for Fastweb scholarship search with your daughter’s profile. My son has had several good outcomes from this. Good luck!
