Where the 10 Richest Americans Went to College

I think people at UChicago value education more than for mere economic gain, but for those who want to know which universities will "make" them rich:

1) Bill Gates - Harvard (dropout)
2) Warren Buffett - U. of Nebraska; Columbia
3) Larry Ellison - UChicago (dropout)
4) Charles Koch - MIT
5) David Koch - MIT
6) Christy Walton - no college
7) George Soros - London School of Economics
8) Sheldon Adelson - City College of New York (dropout)
9) Jim Walton - University of Arkansas
10) Alice Walton - Trinity University

On a side note, Carlos Slim of Mexico, the richest man in the world, went to Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.

It seems not college education nor elite brand made these people rich, but their talent/high calibre made themselves successful. (3 dropouts+1 no college, 40% of top ten)

Yeah, I would agree. I doubt even Harvard attendance for a few years, wothout obtaining a degree would make that much of a difference educationally to make what bill gates did possible.

This is not really a useful indicator of anything. I understand why you would analyze the school at which graduates make the most money, but looking at the ten richest people is not the way to go about doing that. Also, Jim and Alice Walton inherited their fortune, so their cases are especially irrelevant.

I seriously don’t know what I would do if I had made that much money, other than funding philanthropic projects.

Interesting though.

Well, I would probably invest it in real estate and get more money through rent ;), and othet than that; relax, get a job teaching, and always continue education.

Well, to be fair, Larry Ellison spent more time at the UIUC than Chicago. So that school should be mentioned as well.
